Israel Renames West Bank to Judea and Samaria, Palestine Strongly Condemns

LOGIC.co.id – The Palestinian government has strongly condemned the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) for approving a bill to rename the West Bank as Judea and Samaria. This move is seen as part of an effort to fully annex Palestinian territories.

In an official statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that this decision represents a dangerous escalation that further threatens peace efforts in the region.

“This bill paves the way for the full annexation of the West Bank, the forced implementation of Israeli law, and the systematic weakening of the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state and achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict,” the statement read, as quoted by Anadolu Agency on Tuesday (February 11, 2025).

Palestine Calls for International Intervention

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that this regulation has no legal legitimacy and contradicts international law and UN resolutions.

“This decision is a blatant violation of international law and poses a risk to regional and global stability,” the statement continued.

On January 29, the Knesset approved the initial reading of a bill allowing illegal Israeli settlers to register land in the West Bank under their names.

In response, Palestine has called for international intervention to prevent changes to the political and legal status of the territory, which is internationally recognized as part of its state. Additionally, Palestine urged other countries to review their diplomatic relations with Israel based on its adherence to international law.

Israel Reportedly Preparing for Full Annexation

Palestinians and left-wing Israeli groups believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is accelerating steps to enforce Israeli law in the West Bank as a preparation for full annexation.

In recent months, several Israeli ministers, including Netanyahu, have publicly expressed their intention to annex the West Bank, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967.

This situation has raised concerns within the international community that the escalation of conflict in Palestine could further deteriorate.
